Detour Diaries
Dare to Detour is the supportive wellness community you deserve.
We invite you to join us for the journey, as we reconnect with ourselves — mind, body, and spirit — and step into a new way of being.
Untraditional Holidays - How I'm Celebrating Alone
And that's really the simple message I want to share. That the holidays CAN be a time that is instead, about creating space. Space for you, space for feeling, and space for creating new traditions for yourself and those closest to you.
The Dare to Detour Gift Guide
Anyone who knows me agrees that I love to shop. But more than anything, I thoroughly enjoy the art of finding things (and experiences!) to give as gifts.
An Extrovert's Guide to Connecting
Let’s talk about putting yourself out there as an Adult.
It’s hard to make friends as an adult. No matter how old you are.
I’m a connector, and certainly an extrovert, but putting yourself out there as an adult is hard.
My Story
I FELT LIKE SUCH AN EPIC FAILURE.
It was 2017, I was living in Tiburon, California and was a member of The Hivery, a popular women-only co-working space in the next town over. With two teenagers about to graduate high school, I noticed a posting for a class called ‘What’s Next 101’ and decided to sign up. I was part of the first cohort of 9. Besides me, the other gals were all seemingly successful, full-time, career-driven women. And although I worked hard both as a full-time mom and as a pro bono fundraiser successfully bringing in upwards of a million a year, I felt like an epic failure.
How to End a Chapter
I’m going to put this out here:
It really bothers me when people say you can ‘rewrite a chapter’.
I don’t believe in rewriting chapters.
I believe in ending them.
My Big Instagram Announcement
This is uncomfortable for me. But it’s my livelihood.
I shared these words on Instagram this week. Mostly for me. But also to make the “official” declaration that I’m not going to bring back the Dare to Detour account. Instead, I’m putting on my big girl shoes and stepping into this business front and center.
Like it or not, you’re gettin’ all of me on @sherylwright_!
Introducing: Our Stories Matter
Meet my theme for 2023.
When we are able to sit with others and share our stories vulnerably, we can make connections that help us overcome our differences.
How to Make a Compassionate Comedown Plan
SLOW DOWN. EASE BACK IN. INTEGRATE.
These are not the words we typically hear when we come home from a trip…
What is ‘authentic’ travel?
What is ‘authentic’ travel?
And how do we get more of it?
There’s nothing better than a Detour where you really get a feel for how the locals do it. Whether it’s wandering the cobblestone streets of a small European town or driving down the dusty road toward a mountain ranch, the experiences we all crave are authentic ones.
