And that's really the simple message I want to share. That the holidays CAN be a time that is instead, about creating space. Space for you, space for feeling, and space for creating new traditions for yourself and those closest to you.

Anyone who knows me agrees that I love to shop. But more than anything, I thoroughly enjoy the art of finding things (and experiences!) to give as gifts.

Let’s talk about putting yourself out there as an Adult.

It’s hard to make friends as an adult. No matter how old you are.
I’m a connector, and certainly an extrovert, but putting yourself out there as an adult is hard.

I FELT LIKE SUCH AN EPIC FAILURE.

It was 2017, I was living in Tiburon, California and was a member of The Hivery, a popular women-only co-working space in the next town over. With two teenagers about to graduate high school, I noticed a posting for a class called ‘What’s Next 101’ and decided to sign up. I was part of the first cohort of 9. Besides me, the other gals were all seemingly successful, full-time, career-driven women. And although I worked hard both as a full-time mom and as a pro bono fundraiser successfully bringing in upwards of a million a year, I felt like an epic failure.

I’m going to put this out here:

It really bothers me when people say you can ‘rewrite a chapter’.

I don’t believe in rewriting chapters.
I believe in ending them.

This is uncomfortable for me. But it’s my livelihood.

I shared these words on Instagram this week. Mostly for me. But also to make the “official” declaration that I’m not going to bring back the Dare to Detour account. Instead, I’m putting on my big girl shoes and stepping into this business front and center.
