My Long-Haul Flight Hacks

My long-haul flight hacks... 🧳🛩️

Let's face it. Everything gets a little harder to recover from as you get older. Including jetlag.

At the end of the day, there’s no true cure for jet lag other than time and rest, but here are some of my rituals and tips for long-haul flights that help ease the change into new time zones:

1. I have a few hour-long meditations downloaded on my phone.

2. A cozy scarf that doubles as a blanket and an eyemask to block out light.

3. Hydration is key. I include electrolytes in my water and avoid alcohol.

4. I also avoid in flight meals and instead bring my own snacks and protein sources. Dehydrated backpacking meals have come a long way and are so much better than your typical airplane food.

5. Compressions socks really do make a difference.

6. I block time in my calendar upon my return in support of a compassionate comedown, two full days if possible. This is the absolute key for me.

7. Time in nature in as much daylight as possible on both the front and back ends of a trip. Soaking up sunlight helps your body get back its natural circadian rhythm wherever you are.
